Motherboard

The mother is main part of the computer in which all the peripheral devices are connected to it. The Motherboard is the device that integrates the processor and other components including the memory, disk drives, keyboard, and displays. It includes the central processor chip, BIOS (Basic Input Output System) chip, and the data bus interface that allows disk drives, video, memory, and processor to communicate with the central processor. Typically, devices that connect to the motherboard directly, that is, directly into the data bus, are platform specific, which means they can only be used for the specific equipment they were created for.
